ENGLISH & SCIENCE “ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY” PROJECT 1st ESO

Agenda 21 is an international blueprint that outlines actions that governments, international organisations, industries and the community can take to achieve sustainability.  These actions recognise the impacts of human behaviours on the environment and on the sustainability of systems of production.  The objective of Agenda 21 is the alleviation of poverty, hunger, sickness and illiteracy worldwide while halting the deterioration of ecosystems which sustain life. decalogue .

setmana-de-la-ciencia-angles-10This year our students of 1st ESO in the frame of CLIL-  which stands for Content and Language Integrated Learning and refers to teaching subjects such as science, history and geography to students through a foreign language -have worked in the English class on the Project entitled “Environmentally Friendly” in order to promote sustainability in our school and hence in our city and our planet. They have produced a video where they recommend us the  10 actions gathered in a decalogue  to be carried out so as to be environmentally  friendly and contribute to a better world.
Here are a few examples of the tips given in the decalogue;

Turn off electrical appliances when you’re not using them – a single computer and monitor left on 24 hours a day will cost over £50 a year.

Waterwise. Be water wise. It’s easier than you think. Simple actions can have big impacts.

Reduce your waste by reusing and repairing – many items can still be used when you’ve finished with them.
